On My Honor: Girl Scouts Since 1912
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place. Relive your own Girl Scout days, through hundreds of artifacts, vintage uniforms, and photos. Gather in a recreated campsite, page through scrapbooks and have fun with friends as you attend an imaginary meeting. Special patches for participation are available.
From historic artifacts dating back to 1917 to a common recreated camp scene area where visitors can experience a simulated fire for sing-a-longs, the museum’s exhibition tries to capture the essence of being a Girl Scout.
Special programming related to scouting activities and badges are also featured. In addition, the exhibit addresses the contemporary goals of the scouts which encourage girls to 1)develop self-potential, 2)relate to others, 3)develop values and 4)contribute to society while also tracing the history of scouting and the changing attitudes about women’s roles, competencies and responsibilities.
